The Empress of India was a paddle wheel steamer operated by the St. Catharines, Grimsby and Toronto Navigation Company. The company was founded in 1884 to provide passenger service from Toronto to Port Dalhousie. In 1899 the ship was rebuilt and renamed “Argyle” and subsequently moved to different steamer routes.
