The 1978 Grape and Wine Festival parade also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the twinning between St. Catharines and Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The first Grape and Wine Festival was held at the end of September, 1952 as a way to bring greater awareness to Niagara’s growing grape and wine industry. The early festivals were smaller events with a parade and dance but the Grape and Wine Festival has since grown into a multi-day celebration including a parade, music, and food and wine tastings. - Date de l'original
