She became a Registered Nurse at Stobhill Hospital, Scotland. She had a nursing career at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines for 19 years on 3C. In later years, until her retirement, she worked in management at Shaver Hospital. She later enrolled in university. In 1981 she graduated with Distinction from Brock University with a B.A. in Art History and Philosophy.
