Louis Shickluna originally operated out of the Armington yard, which he purchased in 1836. When the 2nd Welland Canal opened Shickluna established another shipyard on 12 Mile Creek, between Locks 2 and 3, in the early 1840's. He also established a dry dock beside Lock 3 of the 2nd Welland Canal in the 1860s. His shipyards built over 150 ships. - Date of Original
