The Maple Leaf Rubber Company was established in Port Dalhousie in 1886, making rubber boots and shoes. Originally housed in the former Lawrie Flour Mill, the factory was destroyed by fire in 1898.
The Maple Leaf Rubber Company opened in a new building, the one pictured here, in 1901. Power was generated at the weir constructed across the 3rd Welland Canal.
The building later became home to Lincoln Fabrics in 1955. After 2017 the building was converted into condominiums. - Inscriptions
