John McCombs was born in Bennington, Vermont in 1792. He moved to Grantham Township in 1811 and married Madelen McCombs of De Cew Falls on March 24th, 1812.
John McCombs received a crown grant of 200 acres in Esquesing but traded with Joseph Hainer for 100 acres in Grantham Township. The deed was transferred to John McCombs on March 31st, 1830.
It is believed the Hainer’s built three log cabins on the property prior to transferring the property to John McCombs. Two of the cabins were demolished but it is unclear what happened to the third log cabin. If the cabin on Boyle Road was one of the original three log cabins built by Joseph Hainer, it would have dated to c. 1816. If the cabin was built by John McCombs it would have dated to c.1831.
The cabin was severely damaged by fire on May 3, 1959 and subsequently demolished.
