The Romanesque style church was built in Sandstone, with towers and semi-circular arches.

St. Thomas' Church was built in 1877 after the congregation of Christ Church, located in Western Hill, outgrew its church established in 1873.

The building was designed by Buffalo architect Milton Beebe.
