I lived on Queenston St (don’t know the address), and I attended Consolidated Public School, Kindergarten (Mrs Ogden?), and Gr. 1, approx 1961-62. I passed by a farm(?) or large open field along the way. I’m guessing about a 20 minute walk. I won several ribbons during a school-wide track and field day (I was a lot faster then than now!).
I recall one winter the school furnace quit and we had to sit in class dressed in our winter coats and boots they finally sent us home for the rest of the day until repaired. The snow banks were taller than my dad.
I also remember walking by the school with my mum and baby sister, to the cemetery (Victoria?), to collect pine cones to decorate our Christmas tree I still have some of them - 60 years later - to hang on my tree.
