He earned a Bachelor's Degree in French and Spanish in 1963 as well as a Master's Degree in Education in 1965 from Niagara University in Lewiston, New York. He taught for three years at Lewiston-Porter High School in Lewiston. He was elected to Welland City Council in 1967. He was elected to Mayor in 1978 and served until 1984. He operated Nonna's Italian Restaurant in Welland, with his brother from 1986 to 1993, followed by a career in sales with Abbott Motors in Buffalo, New York, until the time of his passing
