He worked at Stelco in Hamilton and later at H.G. Acres in Niagara Falls. In the early 1960's he went to Teachers College in Toronto and started his teaching career at Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill. Two years later he started teaching drafting at St. Catharines Collegiate. He also taught at Lakeport, Kernahan Park and Beamsville Secondary Schools
