This is the family home of David Florence. He did not work for the canal in any capacity, but did rent the duplex cottage from the government. The Florence family lived there from the early 1900s and purchased the house in the early 1930s for $800 from the Crown. Over the years it was converted to a single family home. The building is a designed heritage property and remains in the family in 2017.
