Obituary Notice; He was the first one to propose in a definite manner a connection between Lake Erie and the Hudson by way of a canal.; From 1805 - 1808 he wrote a series of articles for the Ontario Messenger recommending a canal between Lake Erie and the Hudson; he served as Deputy Sheriff and Jailor of Ontario County; Served as Assistant Postmaster at Canandaigua; He was appointed Collector of the Port of Genesee in 1817 by then President Monroe; Died at the age of 69
